By Sanjay Menon — 13 July 2026 — 3 min read Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the young Indian batting sensation, attended the Wimbledon 2026 men’s singles final at the All England Club in London on Sunday. He was present to watch the match between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev. Sooryavanshi was joined by fellow India opener Abhishek Sharma and former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh at Centre Court. Sanju Samson was also among those present at the event. Sooryavanshi, who recently made his senior India debut, expressed his excitement about observing a major final live for the first time. He noted that he was keen to see how players approach such a significant match. The 15-year-old cricketer arrived dressed in a formal black blazer, white shirt, striped tie, and tinted sunglasses, a notable change from his usual cricket attire. Despite his stylish appearance, Sooryavanshi revealed that his outfit was arranged at the last minute. He credited Abhishek Sharma for helping him put together the ensemble, stating, “I didn’t plan anything; whatever I could find in the last minute, I asked Abhishek and he got it arranged for me, and I just wore it.” Tennis Fandom and Predictions Sooryavanshi shared that he has been following tennis for several years, specifically for the past four or five years. He grew up watching tennis legends Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, with Djokovic emerging as his favourite. “I used to watch Nadal and Djokovic a lot. Now I like Djokovic the most, but I followed both of them,” he mentioned. Among the current generation of tennis players, Sooryavanshi expressed admiration for Carlos Alcaraz. However, he also praised Jannik Sinner’s dominant performance throughout the tournament. Sooryavanshi had predicted that Sinner would win the Wimbledon trophy, a prediction that proved accurate as Sinner defeated Zverev. Sinner secured his second Wimbledon title by beating Zverev with a score of 6-7 (7), 7-6 (2), 6-3, 6-4 in the final. This victory marked Sinner’s fifth Grand Slam title. Cricket Career and Doubles Partner Choice Sooryavanshi’s attendance at Wimbledon followed a significant period in his cricketing career. He made his senior India debut in the recently concluded T20I series against England. At 15 years and 99 days, he became India’s youngest international debutant, surpassing a long-standing record. The T20I series against England saw India lose 0-4 in the five-match series. Sooryavanshi’s appearance at Wimbledon continued a strong Indian cricket presence at the championships, following earlier visits by Sachin Tendulkar and Shubman Gill for the men’s singles semi-finals. When asked whom he would choose as his doubles partner if he were to play tennis, Sooryavanshi humorously selected Abhishek Sharma. He explained his choice by stating, “I will go with Abhishek bhaiya. He is my opening partner in international cricket. I really enjoy batting with him a lot, so I will choose him as my doubles tennis partner as well.” Sooryavanshi’s remarkable year also included finishing as the leading run-scorer in IPL 2026, where he amassed 776 runs in 16 matches and became the youngest Orange Cap winner. He also hit a record 72 sixes during the season, ending with a strike rate of 237.30.
