Salah’s Future Remains Undecided

Reports suggesting that Mohamed Salah had agreed to join Besiktas have been denied by his agent. Widespread reports had indicated that the former Liverpool winger was close to a move to the Turkish club. However, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, has stated that no decision has been made regarding his client’s future.

Salah concluded his nine-year tenure at Anfield after reaching an agreement with Liverpool to cancel his contract at the end of last season. During his time with the Reds, having joined from Roma in 2017, he secured multiple titles, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

He made 315 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, placing him fifth in the club’s all-time list for the competition. Salah is also noted as one of only ten players to be both the leading goalscorer and top assister for a club in the Premier League, having scored 191 goals in the competition.

The Egypt international has frequently been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League in recent years. His agent’s recent comments on X (formerly Twitter) directly addressed the speculation. Abbas wrote, “I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?” He also stated in an earlier post, “It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise.”

Transfer Market Activity Across Europe

Beyond Salah’s situation, other transfer stories are developing. Bayern Munich has reportedly informed Real Madrid that Michael Olise, a 24-year-old France forward, is not available for transfer this summer. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund and Germany attacker Karim Adeyemi, also 24, is reportedly heading to Barcelona.

In England, Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly in a transfer battle for 25-year-old RB Leipzig and Netherlands defender Lutsharel Geertruida, who was on loan at Sunderland last season. Manchester City and Tottenham are said to be interested in Portuguese winger Francisco Trincao, 26, and could potentially intercept his proposed move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli from Sporting.

Barcelona is reportedly preparing to intensify their pursuit of Atletico Madrid and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, 26, following this summer’s World Cup. Hull City has submitted a bid for Mjallby midfielder and Swedish World Cup star Elliot Stroud, 24. Manchester United is reportedly exploring options to sign additional midfielders after finalising a deal for 22-year-old Chelsea and Brazil international Andrey Santos.

Goalkeeper and Defensive Targets

Several clubs are also looking to strengthen their defensive lines and goalkeeping positions. Greece centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, 28, is attracting interest from multiple Premier League sides and other European clubs after an impressive season with relegated West Ham. Como is hoping to sign Colombia defender Davison Sanchez, 30, but Galatasaray’s asking price could be a hurdle.

Manchester United is in the market for a goalkeeper to provide competition for Belgian Senne Lammens, 24. They could potentially turn to Paraguay’s Orlando Gill, 26, who is understood to have a release clause at Argentine side San Lorenzo. Newcastle United’s prospects of acquiring England goalkeeper James Trafford, 23, from Manchester City have reportedly improved, as Aston Villa, a potential rival for his signature, is keen to retain their number one, 33-year-old Argentine Emiliano Martinez. However, Chelsea is also reportedly interested in Trafford.

New Benfica boss Marco Silva is reportedly keen to sign his former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, 31. A bid is reportedly being prepared to secure the Portugal international from Bayern Munich following his loan at Tottenham last season.
