The NSE will be closed on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in observance of Holi.

On this date, trading in the equity segment, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and other relevant segments will be entirely halted for the entire session. This encompasses the pre-open session (09:00-09:08 hrs), standard market hours (09:15-15:30 hrs), and the closing session.

Holi Trading Holiday 2026

In addition to Holi, March 2026 features two more weekday trading holidays for the NSE.

26th March 2026 (Thursday) – Celebration of Shri Ram Navami

31 March 2026 (Tuesday) – Celebration of Shri Mahavir Jayanti

March Weekday Closures

Traders and market participants must prepare for trading and settlement activities, particularly in the last week of March, as various closures could affect liquidity and the timing of settlement processes.

List of NSE Holidays for 2026

The 2026 NSE holidays calendar features the following complete trading holidays that fall on weekdays:

Impact on Trading Activities

Sr. No Date Day Event 1 15-Jan-2026 Thursday Municipal Corporation Elections – Maharashtra 2 26-Jan-2026 Monday Republic Day 3 03-Mar-2026 Tuesday Holi Festival 4 26-Mar-2026 Thursday Shri Ram Navami Celebration 5 31-Mar-2026 Tuesday Shri Mahavir Jayanti Observance 6 03-Apr-2026 Friday Good Friday Observance 7 14-Apr-2026 Tuesday Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti 8 01-May-2026 Friday Maharashtra Day Celebration 9 28-May-2026 Thursday Bakri Id Festival 10 26-Jun-2026 Friday Muharram Observance 11 14-Sep-2026 Monday Ganesh Chaturthi Festival 12 02-Oct-2026 Friday Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti 13 20-Oct-2026 Tuesday Dussehra Celebration 14 10-Nov-2026 Tuesday Diwali-Balipratipada Festival 15 24-Nov-2026 Tuesday Prakash Gurpurb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev 16 25-Dec-2026 Friday Christmas Celebration

The dates listed indicate full trading holidays during which the exchange is entirely closed for all segments throughout the day.

Important Announcement: The Diwali Laxmi Pujan is scheduled for 08 November 2026 (Sunday). Although it coincides with a Sunday, the exchange has designated it as a trading holiday, during which Muhurat Trading will take place. Details regarding the timing of Muhurat Trading will be communicated later via an official circular.

Preparation for Settlement Timing

The following is a list of NSE holidays occurring on Saturdays and Sundays:

Alongside the weekday trading holidays, specific festivals in 2026 coincide with weekends. As Saturdays and Sundays are already designated as non-trading days for the equity segment, these occasions do not result in any additional market closure effects:

Sr. No Date Day Event 1 15-Feb-2026 Sunday Mahashivratri 2 21-Mar-2026 Saturday Id-Ul-Fitr (Eid of Ramadan) 3 15-Aug-2026 Saturday Independence Day 4 08-Nov-2026 Sunday Diwali Laxmi Pujan*

The weekend holidays do not modify the standard trading timetable; however, they are included in the official NSE holidays 2026 calendar for reference and compliance.

Traders and investors should coordinate their settlement responsibilities, derivative expirations, and portfolio strategies in line with the NSE holiday schedule for 2026 mentioned above.
