On Saturday afternoon, a portion of a parapet segment from the under-construction Metro Line 4 viaduct in Mulund, Mumbai, collapsed, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The incident occurred near pier number P196 on LBS Road, close to the Mulund Fire Station, when a concrete section measuring approximately 6 ft by 4 ft fell onto a moving autorickshaw and a car, reported by ANI.

The collapse has raised serious safety concerns regarding the ongoing construction of the Metro Line 4 corridor. The deceased has been identified as Ramdhan Yadav, while the injured include Rajkumar Indrajeet Yadav, who is in critical condition, and two others, Mahendra Pratap Yadav and Deepa Ruhiya, who are reported to be stable. Following the incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ordered the suspension of Executive Engineer Satyajeet Salve for negligence and imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore on the contractor firm.

A high-level inquiry committee has been established to investigate the cause of the collapse. Local MLA Mihir Kotecha has called for an inquiry and accountability for the contractor and officials involved. The area was cordoned off for rescue operations, and traffic on the busy LBS Road was temporarily affected.
