The player’s current agreement is set to conclude at the end of the next season, and discussions between his representatives and the club’s general director, Jose Angel Sanchez, along with chief scout Juni Calafat, recently took place in the Spanish capital.

Previously, there were notable financial disparities between the parties involved. Reports from earlier in the year indicated that Vinicius Junior was seeking an annual package in the range of €30million, which would include a base salary, performance-related add-ons, and a renewal bonus. The renewal bonus was identified as a key point of contention in the negotiations.

However, sources familiar with the recent discussions suggest that Real Madrid has now increased their offer to a level that acknowledges Vinicius Junior’s significance to the team and its future plans. The 26-year-old attacker is now faced with the decision of whether to accept the new terms, pursue free agency next summer, or consider an opportunity with Arsenal.

Interest from Arsenal and Club Ambitions

Arsenal has been closely monitoring Vinicius Junior’s contract situation. The Premier League champions have identified the Brazilian as their primary target for the left-wing position should his status with Real Madrid change. Reports from last week indicated that Arsenal’s ownership had approved moving forward with a potential deal for the player.

Real Madrid, under the leadership of president Florentino Perez, is known for maintaining a strict salary structure. Despite this, the club is keen to retain Vinicius Junior, who has publicly expressed his desire to remain at Real Madrid, calling it “the club of my dreams” and stating his hope to stay “for many years.”

He recorded 22 goals and 14 assists across all competitions for the club in the 2025-26 season. Overall, he has made 375 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 128 goals and providing 100 assists. His achievements with the club include winning three La Liga titles and two Champions League titles. He also finished second in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings, behind Rodri.

Real Madrid has had an active summer, with Jose Mourinho returning as head coach. The club has also moved to reinforce its squad with several new additions, including Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Carlos Espi.
